The Path to Healing a Broken Land

The Path to Healing a Broken Land

2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Introduction

There are moments in history when everything feels like it is unraveling.

Morality declines. Truth is blurred. People grow cold. And even within the church, there is a sense that something is missing—something has drifted.

In times like these, people begin asking the question: “What is the solution?”

But God gives a different answer. This passage is not directed at the world—it is directed at God’s people.

If anything is going to change out there, it must first change in here.

I. The People God Addresses

“If my people who are called by my name…”

God begins with His people, not the world. We carry His name and reflect His character.

Revival does not start in government. It starts in the hearts of God’s people.

II. The Posture God Requires

“…humble themselves…”

Humility is recognizing total dependence on God. Pride resists Him, but humility invites His grace.

Revival dies where pride lives—but begins where humility takes root.

III. The Pursuit God Desires

“…pray and seek my face…”

Prayer is dependence, but seeking His face is pursuing His presence.

Many seek what God can do. Few seek who He is.

IV. The Repentance God Demands

“…turn from their wicked ways…”

Repentance is not feeling bad—it is changing direction.

You cannot hold onto sin and expect healing. True repentance opens the door to restoration.

V. The Promise God Gives

“Then I will hear… forgive… heal…”

God hears humble prayer, forgives sin completely, and restores what is broken.

But His promises follow our obedience.

Conclusion

This is a personal call. Revival starts in the heart.

Will you humble yourself? Seek Him? Turn from sin?

If God’s people will get right, God promises to make things right.
